Harvest Spiced Oatmeal Cookies – Recipe (aka, cookie has photo shoot)

November 19, 2010
Have you ever noticed that blogging as tuned your computer photo album into a maddening chaos for your husband… or is that just mine. My hubby will be trying to find a photo of him and our sons to post as his Facebook profile picture when he runs into about 50 pictures of the same dang cookie, pie, or appetizer sitting on various plates and locations throughout our home.
He thinks I’m going loony… I’m starting to see his point.

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/3 cup craisins
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the butter, shortening, brown sugar, white sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, pumpkin spice, and salt; stir into the sugar mixture. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets.
  3. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until light and golden. Do not overbake. Let them cool for 2 minutes before removing from cookie sheets to cool completely. Store in airtight container. and try not to eat them all yourself like I did. Still getting dirty looks from my kids.

Awww… aren’t they just adorable?!
