Charities often run ‘box schemes’ at Christmas, where you fill a shoebox sized box with items for people who are in need. Different charities will gift to various kinds of people, for example, women’s shelters help those fleeing domestic abuse. Some charities help children overseas whereas others help children who live locally. Find a cause you’re passionate about and find out how you can get involved. Many ask for simple items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, a flannel and in the case of children some small toys. This would cost next to nothing to put together but could well make the Christmas of someone in need. This is an excellent thing to do with children over the holidays; they can help you choose items and wrap the box. Explain what you’re doing, and give them a passion for helping others.
