The Smart Mom’s Guide To Making Healthy Eating Easier & More Fun

As a mom, you most probably feel the pressure to ensure that your family eats a healthy, wholesome diet. Twenty years ago, giving the kids shop bought pie and powdered mashed potatoes with spaghetti hoops was seen as being an acceptable meal.
Today, however, that’s no longer the case. As moms, we’re under a lot of pressure to ensure that we only feed our kids the healthiest of foods. The problem with this, of course, is that a lot of kids aren’t all that keen on healthy foods. As well as the fact that making healthy meals can be incredibly time-consuming.
So, what’s a mom to do? Is there a way to get healthy, wholesome foods into our kids without an argument? How can we make healthy food more fun and nicer to eat? Is there a way to make healthy meals easier to make?

Invest in the right equipment
To make cooking from scratch easier and more fun, it’s important to have the right equipment on hand. If you’re yet to purchase a slow cooker, low-oil fryer, meat smoker, pizza oven, or an electric grill, now’s the time to invest. For example, a slow cooker will make it much easier to put a healthy meal on the table every night. While a smoker, such as Brinkmann smokers, will make it easier to give meals unique and interesting flavors. These are just a couple of things that can make healthy eating easier, there are plenty more appliances, such as a food processor, that could make the process even easier.
Choose easy recipes
The good news is that there are plenty of easy meals that are healthy. So, take the time to have a browse online for some healthy recipes that are not only child-friendly but are also quick and fairly easy to make. Things like homemade pasta bake, fish curry and wholegrain rice, and risotto are all wonderfully healthy. Plus, they’re fairly easy to make.
Get your kids involved in the cooking
If your kids aren’t keen on healthy meals, a great way to make them happier to eat them is to get them involved. Give them a recipe book and allow them to pick the meals for the week. Or, take them to the supermarket with you and let them pick out this week’s vegetable selection. How about letting them help you cook each night? If your little ones actually help to make the food, they’re more likely to eat it. So, this could be a method of encouraging healthy eating that’s worth trying.
Come up with healthy alternatives to old favorites
To show your little ones that healthy eating can be fun, come up with new versions of old favorites. Are your kid’s pizza mad? Then make homemade pizzas with wholemeal bases for tea, to show them that pizza can be healthy. Do they love burgers and chips? Make homemade burgers and chips and serve them with a side salad. Are you a family that loves apple pie? How about making a healthier alternative – oaty apple crumble? Being healthy doesn’t mean cutting out your favorite foods, it just means finding ways to make them healthier.
So there you have it, simple ways to make healthy eating easier and more fun for everyone.
